Code of practice: pressure equipment - excluding boilers
This Code of Practice entitled Approval of the Department of Labour Approved Code of Practice for Pressure Equipment (Excluding Boilers) is approved as a Code of Practice No. HSNO COP 22-01 09-07 pursuant to Sections 78 and 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act. The Environmental Risk Management Authority has delegated the power to approve Codes of Practice to the Chief Executive of ERMA New Zealand, and this code is approved in accordance with that delegation. It is confirmed that the requirements of Sections 78 and 79 have been met.
The purpose of this Approved Code of Practice is to approve a means of compliance for the design and operation of certain transfer lines and process pipework. This Code of Practice applies to pipework that is associated with large stationary tanks. It is recognised that in most situations the head of liquid in such tanks will create pressure in the pipework that may exceed the threshold for pressure equipment under the Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure Equipment, Cranes and Passenger Ropeways) Regulations 1999 (PECPR).
